Tile boxes = ceil(waste-adjusted area ÷ sq ft per box). Thinset ≈ 1 bag (50 lb) per 50 sq ft with a ¼×⅜″ notch trowel.

Grout weight uses the Mapei joint-volume formula Area × (L+W)/(L×W) × joint × thickness, with the density constant corrected to 7.9 lb/(ft²·in) for imperial units (the published 1.4 is kg/L, metric-only) then rounded up to 25-lb bags.
Joints ≥ ⅛″ want sanded grout; under ⅛″ go unsanded to avoid scratching tile faces.
Tiles = area ÷ tile size × waste
Divide the net floor area by the tile size to get the tile count, then the tool divides the waste-adjusted area by square feet per box and rounds up to whole boxes.
Add 10% for a straight lay; go higher for diagonal patterns or rooms with many cuts. The calculator applies waste before dividing into boxes so the count is never short.
150 sq ft with 10% waste is 165 sq ft; divided by 15 sq ft per box, that is 11 boxes.
About one 50-lb bag per 50 sq ft when using a 1/4 x 3/8-inch notch trowel — the tool converts your area into bags automatically.
Use sanded grout for joints 1/8 inch and wider; go unsanded under 1/8 inch to avoid scratching the tile face.
